A classic princess story, Cinderella remains to be one of Disney’s most popular movies. However, what is disturbing is the manner in which this movie imposes gender roles by depicting women in a negative manner. This film seems to be reinforcing the notion that women are weaklings and that the only way in which any society can survive is by upholding male dominance and embracing female submissiveness. The movie begins by showing Cinderella living happily with her parents in a faraway kingdom.…

When Disney released its first animated film, “Snow-White and the Seven Dwarves”, it became an instant classic. Since then, the cheery chirpy version of the story is what has stayed in the hearts and minds of young readers. The story is based off of the Grimm Brother’s version of the tale; although by no means the oldest version of the story, it is the most popular version known by readers today. However, although the image of the Disney version is bright, even the cleaned up version written by the Grimm Brothers is significantly darker than what most people might have in mind when they think of “Snow-White”. One of these darker elements is the nature of the mother-daughter relationship represented in the story as it portrays the mother-daughter relationship as a power-struggle between a young, beautiful girl and a cunning, jealous mother figure.…

The plot of ''Maleficent'' is more interesting than ''Sleeping Beauty''. This is because at the end of ''Sleeping Beauty'', Princess Aurora is finally woken up because she has been kissed by a Prince but at the end of ''Maleficent'', Princess Aurora did not wake up even kissed by Prince, but she only wakes up when Maleficent kissed her because of the love showed between them. The story of ''Maleficent'' also amazed us because it almost changes the whole story of ''Sleeping Beauty'' especially the most evil character finally became a good person that makes us feel very…
