What Remains: The Person Who Changed My Life

Another book that we have to read together as a class, ugh. Class readings were never a passion of mine, but Strength in What Remains was something different. The story of a young man escaping genocide, boarding a plane, and becoming a successful person in New York City astonished me. Which made me think; if he had people in his life which made a difference, are there inspirational people who pushed and influenced me? Little did I know that there were so many more people who impacted me than I thought. Family is a key part in my life and I feel as though they made the most impact and have pushed me forward the most. From when I was little my parents were always trying to teach me the difference between right and wrong, which consequently led me to a well-trained conscience. When I was younger my older sisters Kayla and Kelsey were always doing something daring and in my book kind of dangerous. Moreover, they were teaching me to be adventurous and daring. This lead from climbing skyscraper trees to trying complicated tricks on scooters, and everything in between. Now looking back, I feel like that they helped push me forward in voicing my opinions and completing duties to my standards. I also feel as though with their help I was able to take the plunge into switching schools. I was able to “push” of the box that I was stuck in and break free into something that I wanted more. I feel they were so encouraging that way. It also was nice that I had someone to back me up through the whole process. My twin sister Amber decided to switch schools, so she was there when I stumbled in the transition process. Consequently, this helping me plunge towards the future and help me be bold in my decisions and stand by my choices. In college this will be key, because you need to stand your ground otherwise you will be blown away in the
