We Should Control Crime, Not Guns
Crime and criminology is a major issue that affects the world today. Crime has affected the larger portion of the United States to the extent where there are various laws and regulations that are aiming at ending the vice. There are certain cities and regions in the US where people dare not to go. This is due to the high levels of crimes that are reported in those regions. People are also undertaking various studies in criminology in bids to find a longer lasting solution to the vice. The government has come up with a proposal of controlling guns as the sure way of controlling results. Controlling guns cannot assist in any way in reducing the rate of crimes. Criminals will always devise other means of survival .they can even improvise guns or resolve to the use of more harmful and dangerous weapons. Having large numbers of criminals on the streets means that the problem is not yet over. The government should also consider offering jobs to majority of those on the streets. The number one reason of getting a person engaging in crime is due to lack of financial resources. Due to this, the criminals will involve themselves in several ways so that they get the needed money. However, if the authorities involve them in activities that generate resources, it will be a very good move in ensuring that they stop their criminal activities. Studies have revealed that poor living conditions or lack of money pressures one to engage in crime (Rachel 98).
Gun control is not a viable approach of reducing crime due to the smuggling of guns into the country. The authorities should strengthen border patrol and port security so that illegal immigrants with criminal minds do not enter. It also assists in ensuring that they illegal weapons are not smuggled in the country. This will assist in stabilizing the security industry that has been under criticism due to poor decision
