I am a male. Those two aspects of my identity position me to be one of the most privileged types of people in America. I am also one of millions of other white males in America, and one of thousands of white males in the business school as well. The perception of all white males being close-minded, selfish, and opposed to working with people different than them, does not apply to me. Unlike many of my peers, I have a social awareness of the struggle many marginalized groups of people face, and I recognize that white privilege is indeed a real thing. I want to become a leader that works with the groups of people who are oppressed in America. I want to be the CEO of the company that pays its employees equally, or hires a racially diverse board of directors. I can use my identity to shed light on and solve the problems with inequality our country faces. I don’t want to be some other ignorant ‘white guy’ running corporate America. I want to be the face of change, the ‘white guy’ who knows of the problem, and wont turn his back on it. It’s frustrating to realize many individuals in positions of power in the business world today and in the future don’t use their privileged positions to enact change, but I Know that I will, and I look forward to changing the world of business as we know
