What Makes Someone A Hero

What makes someone a hero? Do heroes have some characteristics or "superpowers" that automatically make them a hero? Are heroes the people who will always swoop in and save the day no matter the cost? Or maybe heroes are people who simply want to be kind and do the right thing no matter the consequences. I think heroes are average citizens making the world a better place one act of kindness at a time. I believe my mother is one of these people, she has not only positively impacted my life, but others lives as well and that is why I chose my mom as my Michigan hero. There is something different about my mother. She had a kind of talent, maybe even something you would consider a "superpower." She has the power to by bring a smile to anyone's face. My mom is probably the most outgoing and energetic person I've ever met. I believe that simple acts of kindness and an expression of joy can make other people's day that much better. My moms happy and carefree attitude is very contagious and I often find other people smiling …show more content…
It takes a lot of bravery and tolerance to raise four children, but my mother does an excellent job. What makes my moms case especially excellent is that two of her children aren't her biological children. When I was younger my two younger cousins were in a situation where they were in need of a home. My parents stepped up and offered to take my cousins in and give them that home that they so desperately needed. Now after seven years of living with my cousins I rarely consider them as my cousins, they are regarded as my brother and sister. I admire my mothers courage and bravery in this particularly example because my parents weren't thinking of themselves when they made this decision, they were only thinking of my cousins who needed a home. And my parents have been able to provide this home for them in their time of need and they've never looked back

Some people do not know that they are even someone’s hero. When a person has the power to stand strong and fight for what they believe in they too can be a hero. These are the type of people that give others hope and save lives each and every day. You do not have to have super powers to save someone, you do not have to be in a position or a career where the main goal is to save someone’s life such as a doctor, a policeman or a firefighter. Heroes can be everyday people, such as a teacher; who teaches kids the everyday essentials of life to grow and be a better person, a parent; who guides and raise their children and protect their children, and even a janitor or trash man; people that help keep the environment clean for our safety and…
