At some point during their tour of duty they will deploy. The Soldiers spend twelve months wearing pounds of gear and treating their weapons like it is an extension of themselves. They trade items in their Meals Ready to Eat (MRE) amongst each other. They pass the time playing cards, talking for hours and waiting in long lines to call home or use a computer. At some point they will have fire their weapons and live with the decision they will have to make. Because of past military conflicts, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and physical disabilities have a detrimental effect on military culture and today’s society. The Army cannot use them anymore, so they are pushed out in the cold on disability. Soldiers relive the things they saw and did daily, and families never fully recover. Society doesn’t take notice until it affects them personally. However, there’s always one culture that will always accept them no matter what.
