Most times at Lunch my friends and I would just walk down to Dalhousie to see the environment which we loved and from that moment I loved the university. At the end of that academic year, not only did I learn how to build relationships with people, improve my public speaking skills, I also learnt how to reason with people and accept different views which I found very helpful till this day. Furthermore, I went to Halifax Christian Academy, where I found it easy to adapt because of my previous skills. Additionally, I started taking courses like Physics, Chemistry, Calculus, and I decided that I wanted to purchase a career in engineering. I had to stay focused because I knew engineering was not the easiest course and specifically so that I can meet the requirements for my desired university Dalhousie. To tell the truth, Dalhousie had been my parents and my choice before I came to Halifax, knowing I wanted to be an engineer. Character: a person 's true character is who they are when they are placed in a difficult situation, and the decisions they make at that point that grants them respect from their followers. Competence: this is the condition of being capable or qualified. As a good leader you have to know your position, this is because without knowing how to function in your position you cannot instruct or direct your followers. Thirdly compassion: a leader needs compassion, which is also reasoning with people when they make mistakes. By doing so, you gain trust from the followers knowing that you care. A great leader needs courage : this is the quality of mind and spirit that enables a person to go through a difficult situation with bravery. During my prefectorial position, It was hard for me to instruct some people because I felt we were too close but it took courage and boldness and most times when I spoke to them I gained respect and this is what courage brings.
