What is Personality? What I found the most relevant to me in Chapter 3 was personality. Personality relates to all of us because we all have a personality whether we like the one(s) we have or not. Our book defines personality as "the relatively stable feelings, thoughts, and behavioral patterns a person has." It is important to understand other people 's personalities. They give us clues about how they may behave and feel in different situations. Knowing someone 's personality can help you to interact with them in a better way and know how they will feel if you say one thing or another. There are many different types of personalities. The book goes over the big five personality traits which includes; openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism.
Understanding Personality In particular, I believe by nature we can and do develop different personalities for different situations. For example, I have different personalities when I am home compared to when I am at work, school, or just out in public. People who know me well can agree that I am a little different in each situation. At home, I am relaxed and can totally be myself. When I am a school or work, I have to be more professional and proper. I typically speak less and am more shy and introverted in these environments. Then when I am in the public, for example like shopping or eating out, I am a mix of my home self and my school and work self. I feel that most everybody can attest to the fact…
