Why Good Leaders Make You Feel Strong Analysis

As children, we did not understand the sacrifices our parents had to make in order to provide us better opportunities. Besides looking up to Santa Claus, we understood that our parents were our main leaders in life. In addition, when we became teenagers, we started looking up to our favorite musicians or celebrities as a leader and aspired to be just like them. However, it is when we become adults that we start to question what an actual leader is. Even though we see our parents as great leaders, we now have people in our professional lives who lead us as well. Our parents learned from our grandparents, the failures that they overcame to be better parents and they apply that to us by offering us more than what they were provided. For instance, Simon Sinek in his TED Talk speech “Why Good Leaders Make You Feel Safe,” makes clear that “We [parents] want to give our child opportunities, education, discipline them when necessary, all so that they can grow up and achieve more then we could for ourselves. Great leaders want exactly the same thing.” To resemble, as a child, my mom was never home because she was working multiple jobs and on her rare days off, she would take my brother and me to amusement parks or take us shopping. We did not live in the best neighborhood but, my mom would put us on a school bus that traveled north so we could attend schools that offered better education. Yet, we would have never enjoyed anything my mom did for us if it wasn’t for her discipline because she would remind us to count our blessings and to be grateful. As a result, now that I am an adult, I understand that she was working hard to provide us experiences she never got to have, which has now helped me to become a better parent and a better leader to my
