What makes a hero? Is it the courage to face their fears? Or is it the heart of the individual that makes him or her a hero? Two historical figures have been considered hero’s of their time. Odysseus and Moses may have been alive in different eras, but they both had a significant impact on the world around them. Moses was known for parting the Red Sea and aiding in the escape of many civilians that occupied Egypt. Odysseus was considered a great warrior by leading his people in the Trojan war that resulted to victory. But he was considered a hero after his adventure home due to the physical and emotional obstacles he was forced to face.

Before we can discuss the similarities of both hero’s, we must first consider what heroic acts did they involve themselves in? Moses was a man lead by faith of God. He was a prophet which is “an individual who has claimed to have been contacted by the supernatural or the divine, and to speak for them, serving as an intermediary with humanity, delivering this newfound knowledge from the supernatural entity to other people. The message that the prophet conveys is called a prophecy”
