What Makes A Hero

A hero is someone with exceptional skills. He might have laser-vision or super-strength. Perhaps he has the ability to render himself invisible. Whatever the case, he has uncanny and even unnatural abilities that make him a hero. He may be excessively rich, or have endless resources to provide his success. Or so the media would have people think. In reality, none of these unique powers make a hero. This is because a hero is not classified by a set of supereal abilities, but by personality traits and behaviors. A real hero must have certain qualities, ones which are needed to overcome real-life obstacles, that are not granted by circumstance or come as a result of status. He must be able to face the perils of life and overcome them. To achieve this, a hero, or a person who makes a good role model, needs four qualities: courage, tenacity, humility, and kindness. The first trait that defines a heroic figure is courage. This characteristic has been displayed, although in different ways, throughout history and by various cultures. For instance, the Greeks often held courage as an esteemed trait among their mythological figures. In the legend …show more content…
Kindness is what separates a hero from someone who is simply successful; a person becomes a hero when they use all of their talents and abilities to help shape the world around them into a better place to live. Examples of individuals that are widely considered to be heroes are usually allied with a righteous cause. These individuals tend to be in closer relation to people than historical figures or media giants such as Oprah (although they certainly can have great effect as well). The heroes of kindness are parents, community figures, and often religious leaders. They teach through example the importance of selflessness. Serving the needs of others is what makes heroes so distinguishable. They use all of their abilities and traits to better other people rather than
