What Makes A Hero Zimbardo Analysis

What Makes a Hero? In the article” What Makes a Hero?” Zimbardo (2011) talks about heroism, and he says that research has revealed the answer to what makes people evil. One the hand, that research has not yet found the reason that makes people good. Zimbardo believes that heroism is not the same as altruism. Heroism means to give assistance to who need it, doing activities for free and understanding the cons and the pros, and altruism does not apply all that meanings. The author mentions his research main idea which is: the same act may reinforce some people to be evil and other people to be good and the other idea is there is no obvious stander for good and evil because people could do a little bit of evil and then a little bit from good. Then, he cites Escher's notion which is the world has bright sides and dark sides, and everyone can present any side, and that depends on the society norms that surround the person. Another main idea from Zimbardo’s research is some people behave badly and few behave in a good way, and there some people are neutral; they do not do anything. Finally, the author says when we focus on our job and do what we should to do as much as possible, we will extract the hero that inside all of us. An excellent environment will produce a good people who might provide a tremendous positive changing in the future that would make them heroes. Similarly, a tough environment creates a fertile environment to breed mean and bad people. Ultimately, we can realize that people could be a hero whether they are women or men if we disposal of the generalizations and what we thought about other people (Polster, M. 2001). In fact, good and evil live in our world side by side, and they wait for us to pick one of them or even both of them. Of course, that choice would be depending on the environment that people live
