Experience is the core of writing, and majority of the society today needs to know how to properly use grammar, make words flow together, and come up with ideas to produce the writing. For example, in the article My Favorite Teacher, the author began talking about a journalism course he had taken in high school. Thomas Friedman (2014) claimed he never had to take another journalism curriculum since high school because of how much he gained from that one class, and he insisted that this course gave him the knowledge and experience he needed to become the amazing author he is today with the help of his teacher’s criticism (p.13). These introductory English courses that most students receive, and the teachers they have are there to guide them; without the teacher’s criticism one would not learn from his/ her mistakes.
