A good president is an individual who can not only keep their country thriving, but they can also keep their country expanding, this is one of the many ways to define what a good president is. When defining the phrase “good president” people may just have one sentence, while others have an entire essay on the traits and attributes that a person must consist of to be a great president. Over the years there has been much controversy on the characteristics of a good president, how someone becomes a good president, and who some great presidents were. There are many reasons, and many qualities a president should have to be elected. This declaration laid out the foundation for the society that we have today, and it aides the justice system. Thomas Jefferson was the third president, and he was also a founding father. In the year of 1850 Abraham Lincoln was elected to become the sixteenth president. He began to eliminate racism by abolishing slavery. Although he knew that he would become unpopular and he could be put into danger, he went on with his decision to stand up for his beliefs and others rights. He wrote the Emancipation Proclamation, and was presumably assassinated because of his actions on April 16, 1865. In conclusion there are many opinions that define what a good president is. Although some of the most important characteristics the make a good president is integrity, effective communication skills, personable and can build strong relationships, creativity, have high standards of performance, and intelligent and competent. There were also many important key figures that showed they were exceptional during their presidencies, and they are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham
