I asked my mom to describe the perfect baby, she said “Quiet, likes to sleep ,eats well, sleeps through the night, happy, but appearance wise, it doesn’t matter.” Think about this, have you ever wanted to change something about yourself? Maybe your eye color, hair color, or your personality? According to the British Broadcasting Corporation “Designer babies are genetically modified for beauty, intelligence or to be free of disease and they have long been a topic of science fiction”(Designer Babies ' Debate Should Start, Scientists Say.). With this technology and ideologies, we will have perfect people walking the Earth in no time. Although manipulating genes is dangerous, I want to inform you about what designer babies actually are. How you can change their gender, appearance, intelligence, susceptibility to diseases, and determine what kind of personality they are prone to. Also what are the pros and cons of making the choice of having a designer baby are. What traits are you able to change in a designer baby? You are able to select the baby 's gender,level of attractiveness, how intelligent they are, you can eradicate any threat of …show more content…
According to future for all.org the pros of designer babies are as follows, “ Reduces the risk of genetic diseases, Reduces the risk of inherited medical conditions, there is a better chance the child will succeed in life, we gain a better understanding of genetics, they will have an increased life span, this process can give a child genes that the parents do not carry, and can prevent the next generation of the family from getting characteristics/diseases”(Designer Babies Pros and Cons | Gene Therapy | Genetic Engineering). All of these things ensure a happy and healthy life for your child, and you cannot argue with wanting what is best for
