Microchips are smaller than regular sized chips and typically can do the same amount of work, if not more. According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, a regular chip is “a small wafer of semiconductor material that forms the base for an integrated circuit.” (dictionary) Although microchips seem like a better way to go, there are a few minor complications in this idea, such as the complexity of the circuits, the cost of the materials to make produce it and the function that is required of this chip. Chips can function as energy managers or they can take that power to send and receive information. Now imagine if one could actually implant this chip into your body in a safe and easy accessible spot then use it to give your information to a doctor or be used as a credit card at a checkout line. This procedure seems like a great idea and very beneficial to society by allowing easier access to information, but not most people like the idea of the government possibly watching them or certain religions thinking that this could have some relation to the mark of the beast and these are just a few of the countless issues that people have with the a microchip being implanted into their bodies. This puts a huge damper on the research of this project and the testing of the microchips, but sometimes good things are not that easy to see and are often put down because people are so frightened by change. Microchip implantation will be a very useful procedure one day in the future.
