Human development is the process of life from beginning to end. Each part of life has a different stage and each child transitions through each stage differently. Although one child may develop communication skills due to at home readings and parent interaction, another child may develop communication skills through classroom interactions. Both children are developing, but in different ways. Mrs. Lewis also feels development can begin in the womb. She expressed that she has noticed that children who had mothers who talked and read to them while they are in the womb are more developed and advanced that those who had mothers that never communicated to them before birth.

The major aspects of development she encounters with her students is their ability to communicate and learn new concepts. She said they while working with toddlers she works with them on using their words in order to express their needs rather than crying to get what they desire. What effects does parental involvement have on a child’s development?
Parental encouragement and involvement is very important in a child’s development. A child who lacks parental guidance is more likely to be more timid and scared because they do not have the parental support to validate their actions and feeling. Before children are able to think for themselves and make their own decisions they look to their parents for approval and understanding of what is right and wrong. Children need to know that someone is in their corner and when they don’t feel that support they sometimes act out in order to get the attention from those at home.
