Without suitable geography/land, the people wouldn’t have been able to farm. Without government and religion, the people would most likely act chaotic. Without writing, it would have been very difficult to communicate with outside regions and other civilizations.
What made Mesopotamian civilization work pretty well for all the different members of the community? Or did it?
Mesopotamian civilization worked well for some members of the community. The civilization seemed to work well for those of higher status (such as kings, aristocrats, and priests) who basically planned everything and forced everyone else to do it for them. Those of lower status had to do all the hard work. Food and other supplies seemed to not be equally shared among the people.
The key issue here is to what extent did Mesopotamians master their environment and to what extent were they subject to their environment?
It seems that the Mesopotamians mastered their environment to the best of their ability. They worked to develop an ordered society by the creation of government, worship practices, and agricultural inventions. However, they simply could not master it 100% due to natural environmental issues in the region. But even so, they worked to overcome those issues and managed to create one of the earliest
