World War I was ended with The Treaty of Versailles, this was between Germany and the Allied Powers. Since Germany had lost the war, the treaty was more cruel toward Germany, and the people in it. When the countries of Italy and Germany became aggressive and started to take over their neighbors and build up armies, countries like Britain and France had hoped to keep peace through appeasement, they had no such luck.
