In the short story, "Why, You Reckon?" Langston Hughes uses a colored man's point of view in a pre-Civil Rights Movement Era to show that even if someone has money, it doesn't mean they have a happy life. An important topic within metaphysical philosophy is theodicy, which works to justify the existence of God even though evil exists. John Hick and Steven Cahn in their respective works, “The Problem of Evil” and “The Problem of Good”, provide valid arguments for the existence and probable non existence of God in the presence of good and evil. Through the reversal of Hick’s argument, I feel that Cahn establishes the illogic behind Hick’s view and proves that because both good and bad will always exist within the world, based on Hick’s reasoning and premises, it is likely that soul making and God do not exist to serve the greater good. In order for one to truly understand Hick’s missteps in logic, first you must understand what he is trying…

While I have always held a deep respect and reverence for our servicemen and women, I briefly became disenchanted with the Lest We Forget project. I had been thinking more about an interesting project, than a meaningful one. I remembered that in Grade 10 Canadian History, we had been shown photos and video of the 111th Overseas Battalion of South Waterloo departing from downtown Cambridge, and with that, I decided to switch my focus to my hometown of Preston (Cambridge,) ON.…

Or when someone robs your store and tells you that they did it to feed their family? Would you immediately feel pity for someone who is obviously less fortunate than you are or would you think “oh well, that’s not my problem?” Unfortunately, we live in a world where, when someone else’s experiences or lifestyle does not affect us directly, then we do not know how they feel nor do we try to put ourselves in their shoes.…

Often referred as the master of suspense by many critics, Alfred Hitchcock is known for his suspense and psychological thriller in his movies. The movie crafted by Hitchcock “The man who knew too much.” is an absolute masterpiece containing Mystery, suspense and drama. There are two versions of the movie one released in 1934 and the other released in 1956 and both the remakes were directed by Hitchcock himself. Even though the original movie was remade after 22 years, both original and the remake are considered equally great, and are a sign of a master director. The movies can often be compared as “the work of a talented amateur in the first and the work of the professional in the second.”…
