What It Means To Say About David's Absalom

Improved Essays
The beginning statement said this is David’s Psalm as he is running from his son Absalom. I can’t imagine the pain and hurt David must be feeling. His own son is trying to find him and take over his kingdom and even kill him. I’m sure God has similar feelings when we his children run from him and try to place ourselves in a position that is “higher” than the Lord Almighty. It’s a hard prayer for David to ask the LORD to take care of the wickedness (his on son) that is seeking after him. I’m not looking forward to the moments as a parent when I feel as if I failed.

Psalm 4:
I find it interesting in verse 1 how David is boldly commanding God is answer him. Is that good or bad? He is still acknowledging that God is righteousness. Verse 3 mentions how the faithful servant is set apart. Is every

It doesn’t say, “When he IS good to me”, instead it emphasizes on what he has done in the past. That is a great reminder because it isn’t putting all of the focus on what God isn’t doing in the present time. I’m too quick to forget what he does, which makes me more frustrated when I don’t get what I want right when I ask for it. Even when it feels like he is not being good enough now. But what He has done. What God has done in my life is enough to go on worshipping Him forever!
Psalm 17:
The verse that points out the most is, “Show me the wonders of your great love.” This past weekend, I went on a kayaking class with some SAU students. Spending the weekend in Ludington was the best example I have recently had of God showing me the wonders of His great love. The entire weekend was filled with laughter, being in the midst of storms, choppy waves, calm waters, beaches full of sand. No matter where you look, hear, or saw, there was something to remind me of the wonders of His great love. I loved seeing this apply to this experience I just had.

Chaim Potok uses David Malter in The Chosen to demonstrate an example of how some should live. Not only his authoritative personality, but his response to different situations. He employs a Christian attitude and tires to lead by examples. By living with a patriarchal persona, not only does he help others, he faces temptations yet stays grounded. David Malter employs the likeness of Christ compared to all the characters by his leadership, personality, and his principles.…

Introduction The story of Hannah, found in 1 Samuel 1:1-2:10, is often used as a sermon topic on Mother’s Day. While this extraordinary woman of the Scriptures personifies ideal motherhood, her prayer for a son and subsequent psalm of thanksgiving is indeed a splendid model today for a person’s petitions and response. In the Old Testament, Hannah’s prayer is the only prayer from a women. In fact, “until that point men did all liturgical speaking and prayer publicly, for the entire community, making Hannah‘s prayer a revolutionary act.”…

Psalm 23: Psalm 23 began with David stated the Lord is his “shepherd” and would provide David with all the necessities he may need. The Lord would also tend to his spiritual well-being by taking David to calming places such as a green pasture so when he walked in the shadows of darkness, he wouldn’t be afraid. David continued to proclaim that the Lord would always protect him and even when his enemies were close. The Lord would provide David with luxuries and fine oils and foods thanks to the generosity of God.…

I have learned from reading this section that the Bible is not all good news. If we want to live through the Gospel, we have to realize that sometimes things don’t go our way. Although, that’s a part of living through God’s words and responding through faith. I have realized that God plants good and bad things in our lives for a reason. I believe that viewing our lives and everything else in light of the gospel, we will commit to living ever-mindful of the love of God.…
