But I do want to read I brought a book from home today and I think it will be interesting the name is Pregnant Pause. I am more interested in books that are about teenagers, people around my age because I feel like i could relate more to their situation. I don't have much to say about this class, I wish i'd didn't have to take it but I do like the class, I enjoy it mostly because Mr. Quintero is a great teacher and he always makes it interesting and it is easy. I kinda just wanna get it done and over with. For fall break I am excited mostly to have a week off of school and be able to sleep in. Also we're planning on having my boyfriend come for a couple days so I am pretty excited about that as

Identity is like a deciduous tree that goes through all the seasons; it is ever changing. As individuals, we grow and we tend to adapt depending on the circumstances, along with the environment that surrounds us. But, like trees, we also manage to wither, especially when occasional obstacles come our way. We are infinitely being shaped and molded as individuals, as we stroll through the road of life. In Amy Tan 's essay, "Mother Tongue" and Zora Neale Hurston 's piece, "How It Feels to Be Colored Me" the authors explores the concept of identity and how their own identities are formed by the embrace of their personal life experiences.…

With the constant stress we are put through at school, I find that reading really helps me relax. I know you are equally as stressed and may be in need of a pleasant afternoon. As an avid reader, I have read many books about many different topics. Zombies, vampire, magicians, you name it; I have read them all. Anything from Harry Potter to Kite Runner, I have devoured so many stories, my mind will probably implode by the end of the year.…

It is exciting for a teacher to see students so engaged in what you are trying to teach/show them. I notice the same thing when I am reading to my preschool daughter. She loves any series of stories because she is able to make so many predictions based on the first story. “Prediction makes reading more efficient and ‘safe…’ Readers use not only their own background experiences but also what they have come to know about this particular group of characters, plot, setting, and theme to anticipate what will happen next.…

The world is a cruel place and it seems to just be getting worse. People are getting more and more divided because of their religion, race, or the way their hair lays. Others will pick things apart and criticize them until there is eventually nothing else to pick on. I didn't choose to be the color I am or what color hair I wanted, that was chosen for me by God or whatever or whoever you believe created you and I. I should not have to be placed in categories that others think I should be in based on the color of my skin or by what my political or religious views are.…

I have always felt oppression from society and mass media which had a negative impact on me being a person of colour. Every image on every billboard I saw and commercial I watched was someone of a lighter skin complexion, and it left an image in my mind stating that being white was superior to everyone else. I even vividly remember moments when I would disregard everything that had to do with my skin colour or my heritage at the sight of a white person. For example, my church had one white person that used to attend there, and I whenever I saw them, I remember saying to myself, “I wish I was white”, because at the time I had this pre-conceived notion that being white was cool and being black was some type of burden. There were a few moments…

Being a person of color myself, I found the articles we had to read very interesting. I had honestly never thought of being a white person as something as being over privileged as one of the article mentions. T was very refreshing to see so many different perspectives on racism. I especially likes the number of points McIntosh brought up had never even occurred to me. Especially the point where she brought up that she would never have to speak for all people in her racial group (McIntosh).…
