What does it mean to be an American? The meaning of being American to me is to respect others beliefs. Because America is a place where you have the freedom to believe in what you want to become. So you should also respect people's beliefs in whatever they believe in because America is called the land of the free. It does not matter what your book of religion you must respect others people’s religion or beliefs. Like if you come from another country like the Syrian refugees over in Germany the refugees do not respect the Germans and are rioting. So my idea of being an American is being respectful to other people’s beliefs. That is what I think it means to be an American not to be born here, but to respect the others in the country beliefs.
