I was a victim of childhood bullying, molestation, and, consequentially, obesity. I felt as if I had no control over many aspects of my life. There are several experiences in my life where I have felt that I was treated in an unfair manner, but the most recent of those experiences is the one that occurred to me only months prior to this application. Up until the beginning of November of this year, I used to believe that being a great and successful student would be the most rewarding accomplishment of my senior high career. As a result of this, I unwisely assumed that the most important thing in my life was how well I could do on the next test. I spent a meager amount of my time involved in anything else aside from my homework or studying; expecting to be fairly remunerated for a majority of my hard work. Earlier this year, I was indeed rewarded with an application to National Honors…

Coming from a culture of high fatty foods and parents who are both chefs I have constantly struggled with weight gain my whole life. My biggest challenge was poor eating habits and consistent exercise routine. There have been many accomplishments throughout the history of the world, and many of those accomplishments have improved and helped the way people go through life. I admire these accomplishments of course, but I also have a few achievements of my own. In band, I have made the All-District Honor Band every year I have tried out, this past year I passed on to the second round of state, and I made a one, which is the highest score, on my snare solo and passed on to state. These are not all of the accomplishments I have made in band, nor are any of these the accomplishment that I am most proud of. The accomplishment I admire most is trying out for the percussion section and making the cut.…

A significant experience that I faced, was when I tore my anterior cruciate ligament in 2015. Because of it, I had to have knee surgery and spent most of the year doing physical therapy sessions and exercising at the local track. Also, since I was away sports for so long, I learned many things about myself including that there is much more to life than what is right in front of you. Once I learned this, I became more involved in my community and church by participating in service activities and also tried harder to get involved with my school's student body. I also learned to be thankful for my friends and family because of the way that they were supportive to me.…

Over the next few minutes, people slowly trickled in and, before I knew it, the room was full.…

It is funny how our earliest memories have a way of shaping who we are; we all have experiences in our youth that influence us as adults, for me this was my struggle with childhood obesity.
