What Is Yasir's Passion?

Decent Essays
her passion for her creator did shine through during the story. Each woman was passionate about different things. Whereas Miriam lacked passion in her marriage with Yasir, she had a devotion to her faith. Nadia had such a strong, passionate love for her son she would fight beyond any measure or restriction to make a good life for him. Nadia compromised family ties and a stable income for her son’s sake. Malika was passionate about life as a whole, making her my favorite character. This character was eager to learn and I could feel her strong desire to taste life. She lost some of this passion for a fraction of time, but gained it back with a different, wiser perspective.

She was strong and loyal to her friend and her family (despite what had happened to her while she was with her mother). I think one of the things I loved the most about her was how realistic her grief was. Sure, there was hate towards her mother for doing what she did – but it never took over and she still felt grief. She reminded me of a trapped dog, sweet and cuddly to those who showed her kindness but a rabid animal to those with opposite intentions. She does some pretty silly things though, dumb and completely idiotic things, but it didn’t take away from her character as a whole.…

Khaled Hosseini, the author of A Thousand Splendid Suns used a extravagant amount of diverse literary devices to convey the theme of the novel as a whole. He used devices to help the reader get a better understanding for example he used similes, imagery, and personification. With this he was able to show the emotions and actions within characters and how it affected everyone in the end. In the novel he also puts some lines to help show the foreshadowing that is going down throughout the text. Around the commencement of the story he shows that Mariam is distressed in such a way she would do anything to get what she wants.…

I really enjoyed reading about the character Zeba Khan in “Secrets of the henna girl”, as she has such a strong willed, kind courageous personality. I also enjoyed reading about Zeba Khan because she gave me as the reader the different perspective of living life as a woman in a different culture and religion, than I am. I really admired and looked up to the character of Zeba, throughout the story as she always firmly stood up and stood strong for what she believed in, no matter the risk involved. This is shown when Zeba says stands up and tells everyone that she does not want to get married as she is still only 16, “Taji” I said icily ”I don't know what my dad has said to you, but I have no intention of marrying your son, or anyone else in…

Even though her husband was a cantor, she is never shown being outwardly faithful to her religion. She is frequently seen crying or watching what her sons will do. Very unlike Sheyne-Shendl, she hardly complains about what Elyahu is doing and tends to help him with his crazy ideas. By not having a loud voice, she fades into the background many times throughout the stories. Unlike the traditional Jewish woman, she has lost her backbone and has lost her ability to share her opinions to the family.…
