What Is Woody In Act 2 Scene 2

In the film Toy Story 2 directed by John Lassetter, towards the middle of the movie Woody is at “chicken mans” in the process of potentially being packed and sent to Japan with Jessie, Stinky Pete, and Bullseye. Woody is the lone ranger when it comes to wanting to consistenly leave and return to his owner Andy. Although the other characters are thrilled for Woody’s presence because he is the original Woody doll, according to the movie it is rare to find a original woody doll. Furthermore, the other characters all belong to the same franchise of Woody as they are his counterparts to his story, but Woody unaware of the fame his character had did not know of the others. Woody keeps insisting on returning home to Andy but Jessie opposes him because she her own has a hidden depressing backstory and does not trust human beings because of her past. Then it cuts in to a flashback of Jessie’s past, she is laying on the bed as Emily dressed in cowgirl attire picks her up and plays with her. During this scene there is no dialogue it is just a song called “when she loved me”. This is a very depressing and powerful way of showing a characters backstory, as the audience can see like Woody. Jessie is a very noble toy that will always be there for you no matter how long it will take, but as Emily gets older she starts to remove her little girl cowgirl stuff and knocks Jessie right off her bed where she remains under the bed for what seems years. Patiently waiting for Emily to play with her, as time goes by the viewers see more and more of Jessie’s merchandise is going under the bed and forgotten until one day Emily drops her makeup and it roles under the bed.
