➢ ➢ Leadership styles - In the book Outliers, we are faced with a few different styles of leadership, but lets talk about The Roseto Mystery in the introduction of the book. Looking back at the article provided on week one, Leadership Styles, in particular the section Four Leadership Styles:
1. Autocratic. Autocratic leaders command on achieving every part themselves.
2. Managerial. The leader who distinguishes herself, as a manager its primary concern is the running the organization.
3. Democratic. A democratic leader comprehends that there is no organization without its workforce.
4. Collaborative. A collaborative leader attempts to include everyone in the organization in leadership .
In the mystery in Roseto, the leadership style found would be a collaborative force of a community. It’s no wonder why Wolf was interested in this community, but his finding was exceptional. Wolf explains, the secret of Roseto wasn’t diet and exercise; it was the community itself. The community visited each other, talking on the streets in their native tongue-Italian, prepping meals for each other in their yards. There was no admission requirement or exam. Students were selected by lottery. KIPP is well known for its math. In the South Bronx, at most 16 percent of all the middle school students are functioning at or above their grade level versus 84 percent of eighth grade students from KIPP are functioning at or above their grade level.
