Uta Hagen was born on June 12, 1919 in Gottingen, Germany and was raised in Madison, Wisconsin. She later went onto study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic arts in London. Uta Hagen made her professional debut in 1937 at the age of 18 and made her broadway debut in ‘The “Seagull”. Uta Hagen won her first Tony Award, Drama critics award, and the Donaldson award in 1950 for her performance in “The Country Girl”. She went on to star in many classics such as “St. Joan” and “A Month in the Country”. It wasn’t until 1962 when she won her second Tony and second Drama Critics Award, as well as the London Critics Award.
