The purpose of this lab was to analyze and examine periodic trends of the first 36 elements that are on the periodic table. Trends that were analyzed and examined are the atomic radius (AR) and the first ionization energy (IE) of the 36 elements. The hypothesis for this lab was that the elements that are in the groups that had the highest atomic radius would be in the same groups as those who have the the highest first ionization energy and the groups who have the lowest atomic radius would be in the same groups as those elements who have the lowest first ionization energy. In order for the lab to be completed, a chart that was split into four sections was made to collect all the necessary data that is needed to make the graphs. After the data has been collected, a graph that contains both trends was made on a piece of graph paper.…
Fluorine isn't simply an “F” on the periodic table. It is much more. In fact, fluorine is the most important element of any element on the periodic table. It indeed does not belong to the great collection of Noble Gases in Group 8A of the periodic table, but its position in Group 7A alongside the elegant Noble Gases solidifies it as one of the leading significant elements at our disposal. For that reason, in the the showmanship of element practicality, fluorine is an outstanding competitor!…
FOR more than two decades Wittenoom in WA’s Pilbara region was a mining stronghold. The small country town which lies around 1400kms northeast of Perth was also, at one stage, the only place in Australia that produced blue asbestos. But when demand for the deadly mineral began to wane and fears of serious health concerns began to emerge, the operation was shut down in 1966.…
It displayed the first details of a muscularite. Then in 1981, Whitely and Coope re-discovered Beechers Triarthus. More of these beds were discovered and searched for answers. Another key element to pyrite was that it was radio active and have low amounts of…
The element boron, not to be confused with Borax or boric acid, is an essential trace mineral for human health, helping to strengthen bones, increase absorption of other minerals, and to regulate the sex hormones in both men and women. Intake of boron helps the body absorb and utilize other minerals by interacting with steroid hormones. Boron is important for bone growth and maintenance as it reduces the urinary excretion of magnesium and calcium. The boron vertebrate transporter helps these substances deposit within the bones rather than being excreted as waste. Higher levels of magnesium and calcium help prevent osteogenesis, or brittle bones (that can break easily,) which is especially important in postmenopausal women and older men, as a deficiency in these minerals has a negative effect on bone strength and regeneration.…
It was unbelievable because this material could change own chemical structure and shape by synthesis or fission of the number of electrons, protons and neutrons. As a result the material was able to remove all 118 elements of periodic table without any radiation and thermal emission. Scientists identified the source during the research on magnetic…
Tetrahydrocannabinol in space Astrophysicists from the University of Hawaii have discovered Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) on a meteorite found in the Nevada desert in 2010. Showing that there is Marijuana and life on other planets. Researchers who analyzed the meteorite found the presence of Tetrahydrocannabinol, Which comes from the cannabis plant. Researchers are still clueless on where the meteorite came from. The discovery will have a major impact on science.…
thrasymachus uses the example of a tyrant by showing how they make laws in their best interest and the weak must be obedient to all of the laws or they will be punished. Thrasymachus goes on to explain that most people are good in appearance because they are afraid of the punishment. The more intelligent and strong will disobey the laws and have the courage to wrong others causing the weak to suffer. Believing that the unjust life is better, Thrasymachus says the unjust man can easily benefit himself by not paying his taxes and steal from the weak. Thrasymachus claims that of one steals it will be big to aid himself.…
Medicine Changed by Radiation Radiation has changed over the years and wasn’t even known to be used in medicine until after it was used in the military in World War II. It was discovered by a German scientist but then the possibilities of all the things it could be used for was discovered by a Polish-born French scientist. Radiation changed medicine for the better by killing off cancerous, disease ridden germs and cells, this is significant because it changed the way we look at treatment. In 1895, radiation had just been discovered by Wilhelm Conrad Roentgen, a professor at Wuerzburg University in Germany. ("History of Radiography").…
Deception and misinformation play an important role during Thucydides’ account of the Sicilian Expedition. In reality, the whole expedition which leads to deception and destruction, could have been avoided if the Athenian Assembly had listened to Nicias’s plea. Sicily was indeed too far away to be subdued permanently, and the current state of Athens was more important. Many other Greek city states were looking for their opportunity to attack Athens, and this event would only weaken the empire further. To become the strongest Polis, these individual states and people began their attempts to mislead and deceive one another in order to .…
Atum was the first and most important acient egyptian god to be worshiped in Iuna. Atum was the creator god in the heliopolitan ennead. The earliest record of Atum is the pyramid texts and the coffin texts. So in the beginning there was nothing. A mound of earth rose from nun and upon it Atum created himself.…
Out of the people in our little scientific team, Harrison Brown knew the most about meteors. We used his knowledge on them in order to understand how to determine the origin of different elements. We did this through the processing and analyzing of data collected from meteorites. When I met Edward Goldberg, my scientific focus shifted towards lead. ‘What is lead?’…
Sulfur Erbium Vanadium Iodine Cerium When I was in the 5th grade, I met this girl. She was different, smart, 78 years old, and funny. Entering Mrs.Prasla's room terrified, I stared awkwardly at this woman, trying to conceal all signs of life. Finally after holding my breath for a record 46 seconds, I did what any bright and intelligent young boy should do with an elderly woman 7 times his age; I offered her a peppermint and became her sugar daddy. We became best friends and the field trip soon became weekly chess tournaments, gardening lessons, and Facebook tutorials.…
Atum Atum had a very important role in the everyday lives of the ancient Egyptians. For example since they have Atum they can live in Egypt. The ancient Egyptians believed that Atum was the first god. His role was creation and the first sun god. Also at times he was associated with the Ra, the supreme solar god.…
First Mineral: My first mineral of choice is Titanium. Titanium is a metal that was discovered in 1791 by William Gregor. A few common properties are its low density, inflexibility, resistant to extreme temperature, and corrosion. Ti is titanium chemical formula.…
