For thousands of years, humans have hunted animals and destroyed their natural habitats, leaving many animals without their homes and food, having them becoming extinct. Each year, more and more animals are becoming endangered or extinct. Some animals, like the American Bison, have met near extinction in the 19th century. Mass genocide was committed by the American military to get rid of all the bison. They did this to try to get rid of the Native Americans of the west, since it was their huge resource of food. Before the European settlers came to America, there was an estimation of 20 to 30 million bison. Now there is only 500,000 bison in all of North America.

Habitat loss is the biggest threat to animal life everywhere. Because humans harvest different habitats for human consumption to make roads, pipelines, houses and other hallmarks. We even destroy other homes to animals with pollution and global warming. One example are the Polar bears of Antarctica. The Polar Pears aren’t endangered, but they are suffering from the melting ice caps. The reason why the ice caps are important is because the Polar Bears only resource of food are the Sea Lions. If there is no ice caps, there is no Sea Lions, and no Sea Lions means no Polar Bears. All because of global warming caused by us
