To begin with, in the first poem of “Not my Best Side” is in the point of view of the two-legged dragon. The dragon’s attitude is taunting has he assures that he is much more dangerous as he seems. He is provoking that he does not “mind dying ritually since I (he will) always rise again” (Fanthorpe 1). The words “always rise again” are suggesting that the dragon is challenging the knight that he may have beat the dragon this time but he will be back and more prepared the next. Author’s use of diction suggests that she is making fun of the dragon and knight when she says the dragon has such “lovely green skin, and that sexy tail,” and jokes about how the knight “might have acne, blackhead or even bad breath” (1). The word “sexy” is implying that the dragon is attractive and handsome, but in reality dragon is far from being anything good looking. The princess is being sarcastic about how appealing the dragon is and that the dragon is actually funky looking with only having just two legs. Then the words “bad breath” furthers on the princess’ mocking. She is suggesting that this person in armor is a big joke and that he is not needed in the moment.
