“The Petal” by Francis Saspa
What comes around goes around. That was a meaningless statement to Sam until recently.
There once lived a man named Sam who had a long journey to make. He found the idea of long journeys revolting and distasteful things, but he knew that it was inevitable and he needed to prepare. He knew that he would have to prepare sooner or later, but he worked, neglecting preparation.
Sam’s primary frame of work was painting. He had a passion for his work but did not gain much fame. Strangely for an artist, he still had a great number of things to do, and as a result, he became an art teacher in order to live. Most of the time, he thought it was an unnecessary trouble to teach art to kids who would most likely never use his

The years slowly passed, and the two grew to become inseparable as if they were truly father and son. Mr. Moscati taught the boy everything that he knew and together they worked to finish his great work. Together, they created a garden just like the one that Mr. Moscati was trying to paint. The flowers of all colors bloomed and birds of all kinds came to rest in the trees singing, telling tales of their adventures in song. One day while making breakfast, Mr. Moscati passed by the room holding the unfinished painting, Finally, I believe I can finish my work.
One day, Jon promptly kissed Mr. Moscati on the cheek and said, “Goodbye, my father needs me,” and walked down the dirt path.
