First, Percy is the son of the Greek sea god Poseidon (this god is one of the “big three”). He can control water (even breath it) and talk to horses. He is a leader and a great fighter. His weapon of choice is Riptide, a pen that turns into a sword and always returns to his pocket. Next, Annabeth is the daughter of the Greek wisdom and war goddess Athena. She has no special powers but is very smart and can hold her own in a fight. Her weapon of choice is a dagger. Third, Hazel is the daughter of the Roman god of the underworld, Pluto. She was born in 1928, died, but then was brought back to life through her brothers powers. She can also summon precious metals to herself, but you wouldn’t want to spend them because they are cursed when you use them. She has a horse, Arion, which appears to her when she is in need. It is literally as fast as the wind. Hazel’s weapon of choice is her spatha, a long cavalry sword. Fourth, Frank is the son of the Roman god of war, Mars and part of the legacy of Poseidon. He has the ability to turn into any animal, and his weapon of choice is the bow. Next, Leo is the son of the Greek god of inventions/creation, Hephaestus. Leo has the power to create fire, build pretty much anything, has a magic tool belt that can hold …show more content…
Jason was a leader of the Roman demi-god camp and Percy was a leader of the Greek demi-god camp, so this caused some tension between the two. Of course they both wanted to know who was stronger, and they had the chance. When trying to meet with the Greek god Dionysus, the god of wine, two eidolons (evil spirits) took over Jason and Percy’s bodies. The eidolons told Piper she must choose who lived or they would make them fight to the death. She wouldn’t choose so they began to fight. Eventually Piper was able to use charm speak to stop them from fighting and knock them out. This was an important moment because afterwards there was lots of stress between the two about who was

When reading a book, readers quickly label characters as heroes or villains. However, some author’s make this categorizing process very difficult by introducing complex characters. While these types of characters are more realistic, for they resemble real people by being difficult to understand, they challenge the reader’s understanding. The complexity of such characters’ force readers to question the meaning of labels such as ‘hero’ or ‘villain’. Likewise, both Nathaniel Hawthorn, author of The Scarlet Letter, and Toni Morrison, author of Sula, force their readers to question the meaning of the word ‘hero’ through their main characters: Hester Prynne and Sula Peace.…

Without a doubt, classical Greek myths were created as a means to explain traditions, beliefs, and natural phenomena of archaic Greek society. Although Greek myths seem ancient to the current era, their concepts, and terminology continue to exist and are evident in modern society. In fact, the myths are prevalent in nearly every aspect of modern society due to the extensive reaches and capabilities of corporations. Able to interact with people worldwide, companies spread Greek ideas with the commodities they produce and sell. Modern companies use imagery and symbolism that allude to classical Greek myths to add background and details to their company’s name and products; moreover, as a part of their marketing plan, they deliberately manipulate…

Samuel L. Jackson once said, “We’ve come a long way in our thinking, but also in our moral decay.” This quote holds true today as society stays rapidly changing and people become more and more desensitized to the horrors of the world. The line between right and wrong fades and turns to a larger gray area, and many things that happen in society today make us question how we, as a collective people, ended up where we are and how we acquired the customs we have today. Aldous Huxley, in his novel Brave New World, uses a great deal of satire and exaggeration to express his concerns for the society he was born into and bring attention to the problems of moral decay, drug dependency, and brainwashing, among other things, in the world.…

The hard marble helps to emphasize the strong noble composure that illuminates in her expression yet the slightly off white color further expresses the contrast between purity and strength. The pursed lips, and slightly lifted chin help to express that her eyes are looking across the room and that she is looking down on the passersby thus depicting her true nature as a goddess overlooking everyone from above. The patrons walking through the museum can catch her stare from across the gallery in a simple glance despite her eyes being so marvelously simple as compared to the rest of the statue.…
