The passage starts off with Beowulf and his men traveling to the land of Danes, after reaching Beowulf is greeted by a soldier who boasts about Beowulf's up-bringing. They then travel to see Hrothgar where Beowulf gets the chance to boast about himself to everyone. Beowulf continues on to tell Hrothgar and his people that he will rid them of the evil that is within the mead hall. Although if he fails to rid them of this evil to send his armor back to his home from which he inherited it. When Hrothgar replies he tells Beowulf the history between him and Beowulf's father. Beowulf and his men then join Hrothgar to a feast in the mead hall.
