Donald Hall Poetry Analysis

In class we read three books of poems that couldn 't be more different. They each have different styles of poetry and I got different imagery from each one. The first one by Donald Hall I thought was the easiest to read. It was like a book of short stories about his wife who eventually dies. Reading the poems in the book you can feel his emotions through his words and the imagery was like I was there suffering with him. He gives great detail to make the poem feel more realistic. The second book was by Chad Sweeney. I thought this one was the hardest book in the class to read, if not the hardest book I 've ever read. I found myself unable to get the was the author was saying. This book was very informative but at the same time I felt it was a lot of complaining. There was once poem where they were talking about how Serena Williams. The poem I felt read more like an article it was longer and very informative. They were making fun of her for having big breast and but. Claiming the girl doing stuffing was being racist. Having big boobs and butt is part of being a woman and doesn 't just apply to African Americans. Also the girl is actually a good friend of the tennis star. Reading this I poem I was instantly annoyed because I am a tennis fan and new the relationship between the two girls and no harm was meant. Besides that I Thought the book did get a good point across about how people can be racist without even thinking about what they 're doing. They all talk about life in different ways, of dealing with death, life being a minority, and what life is. Again i thought that Parable of hide and seek did a better job at this too. Reading the book you had to find the deep meaning to get the full effect of the book. He really makes you question the reality of life itself. While the other books show the struggle of life. Without explains what its life to live life without the love of your life, he makes it feel as if you were the one you lost instead of him with it amazing details. While Citizen showed me that the United States really haven 't came as far as I tought it has. The stories make me feel disgusted with some of the people in our country. All of these books were able to show me how beautiful and poetry can be and i 'm glad I had the opportunity to read and learn about the
