What Is The Symbolism In The Hobbit

Jealousy and hatred toward someone will not solve anything. In J.R.R Tolkien’s famous book, The Hobbit, Tolkien point’s out the issue through his characters Gollum and Bilbo. Tolkien believes that when sensing jealousy, violence and deceitful acts will not settle anything.
When Bilbo first encounters Gollum, they play a game, but then Gollum gets frustrated and eventually mad at Bilbo. Gollum attempts to assassinate Bilbo, but then Bilbo slips on the ring and escapes the assassination as he turns and realized Gollum’s act.
Throughout the book, Gollum’s green eyes is a symbol of the jealousy and the envious side of men’s heart. Green, in a negative text usually associates with envy or decay. The author uses Gollum’s eyes to show us the envious
