So I started reading. In the back of my head all I thought was ‘this better be over soon’, but somehow the first few lines could draw my attention. Roald Dahl described the setting of the room mysteriously and made me feel uncomfortable from the beginning on. Even in the discussion between the woman and her husband, I still had that uneasy feeling. I was terribly shocked when the woman killed her husband with the leg of lamb. So the story goes on and woman doesn’t know what to do after that, gets frustrated and eventually decides to go make dinner. To me, the funniest part is when she goes to the store to buy some vegetables and acts as if her husband is still alive. Sam, the boy who sold her the vegetables (and cake), doesn’t notice that something’s wrong and she gets away with it. When she gets home, she calls the police and cries that her husband is dead. When the police arrives, she tells them that she doesn’t know what happened and she keeps acting as if she didn’t do anything. After a few investigations, she asks the police to stay for dinner. …show more content…
Also, I loved the part where the police jokes about the weapon. (If only they knew!) Roald did a wonderful job. However, I couldn’t relate to the characters in the story. Based on grammar, the story wasn’t too difficult, so reading went fluently. I’m thinking about reading more short stories, although reading might not be something I like that much. To conclude, I would say that even though I don’t like reading, I really did like this story and I would recommend this story to anyone who also doesn’t. This might make you want to read
