What Is The Sacrifice In A Tale Of Two Cities

The New Testament of the Bible touches on the idea of “resurrection” meaning that something that has once been lost, forgotten, replaced can be used or found again. Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus as he died for his children’s sins and then remarkably returned on the third day. What cannot be forgotten in the celebration of resurrection is the sacrifice Jesus made, the sacrifice that was needed to take place before any sort of rebirth could ever happen. A Tale Of Two Cities is recognized most for it’s famous first sentences that encapsulate the whole book in one statement. “It was the best of times; it was the worst of times”(Dickens 1). It was the times of enemies, rapists, denouncement, imprisonment and lies. The times characterized as the “worst” are needed in the characters of A Tale Of Two Cities in order for any transformation to happen. A Tale Of Two Cities was very interesting in that it was impossible to know completely the outcome of every decision or the possible growth that any character could have attained. It is not something that could be predicted by their past or their outward appearance. Ultimately, it was the sacrifices of others that made the biggest impacts.
