In the film A League of Their Own, a group of women rally together in order to keep baseball alive, while their husbands are on the home front. After being recruited, Dottie Hinson and her kid sister Kit Keller join the Rockford Peaches, coached by Jimmy Dugan. At first, the game is met with disapproval and little support due to the belief that women should be working in the home and not playing on the field. Despite arguments from the league’s owner Mr. Harvey and initial hesitation and refusal to assist by Dugan, a man named Ira takes charge in hopes that the return of America’s men will not cause the end of the Women’s Baseball League. This movie heart-warmingly shows the role women stepped into during World War II.
