What Is The Role Of Piggy And Rodger In Lord Of The Flies

1. To me, Ralph is a hero becuase he showed acts of leadership, courage, and heart. While other boys cared only for themselves, Ralph cared for others, and worked hard to keep everthing organized during disarray. He showed leadership by gathering assemblys, building shelters, making a fire, and trying to keep up with the smoke so they could be rescued. Ralph stood up against inhumanity and thought logically in tough situations. Even though the tribe went against Ralph he showed courage and helped all the boys get rescued in the end.

2. Piggy and Rodger have very different roles but also have many things in common. The first thing they have in common is that Rodger is Jack's second in command, and Piggy is Ralph's second in command. Piggy tends to think logically and more like an adult, while Rodger is a very quiet boy with more barbaric thoughts and actions. It was Piggy's idea to use his glasses to start the fire and also use the conch shell to signal an assembly. Rodger on the other hand surpasses violence when he murders Simon. In the end, as much as they have in common, they had very different values and ideas.

The three important symbols in Lord of the Flies are the conch, Piggy's glasses, and the signal fire. All of these symbols are a major key in the development of the story. The conch is first known as what brought everyone together to have meetings then it shattered. For the next symbol, the boys used Piggy's glasses in hope of making a fire and it ended up a success, but then after Jack took his glasses for granted and cracked one of the lenses. Lastly, the signal fire was there so that the boys could have a way off the island but after the tribe split up the fire got out of control like the boys did and is used for hurting or at least trying to hurt Ralph near the end.…
