The Sung Dynasty started in 960 and ended in 1279. It consisted of the Northern Sung, which lasted from 960 to 1127, and Southern Sung which lasted from 1127 to 1279. The economy they had was prosperous and was considered another period of ‘golden age’ after the Tang Dynasty (618-907). Northern Sung was founded by Zhou Kuangyin, who was a military general in the Latter Zhou. In 960, he launched a mutiny Chenqiao county (in current Henan Province). It wasn’t long after that the last king of the Latter Zhou was forced to abdicate.
