Joan of Arc was born to a peasant family in France. At a young Joan claimed to receive visions of the Archangel Michael, Saint Margaret, and Saint Catherine, who told her to support King Charles VII and recover France from English rule during the Hundreds Years’ War. King Charles sent Joan to the siege of Orleans to take part in a relief mission. Nine days after she arrived the siege was over and Joan rose to prominence. The ending of this siege lift french morality and carved a path to the final French victory. Joan was captured on May 23, 1430 at Compiegne by the Burgundian faction who were allied with the British. Joan was given over to a pro- English bishop, Pierre Cauchon. Cauchon tried Joan guilty and had her burned at the stake. In 1456,
