What Is The Representation Of American Pop Culture

Decent Essays
I believe this video accurately depicts American pop culture and our daily lives. The images represent what we as a culture represent. The video had images for just about everyone to relate to. Starting off from the professional athletes to celebrities like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus. All of these images represent something that most of us have been part of our lives such as, the music we listen to, or social media that connects us to other regions of the world. From using YouTube I’ve discovered many genres and artists that I wouldn’t have thought would exist. In addition, social media sites such as, Facebook can also keep us connected to friends and family that one rarely gets to see in person.

America is full of rich culture, but not every person living in America understands cultures besides their own.…

I don’t think so in my opinion. So, basically I would disagree with the critics. America’s culture to me is easily influenced specially by anything that has some type of entertainment to it. Social media, television, and mainly movies create influence. The reason why I chosen movies as an influence on America’s culture is based off of war and military movies, and also it relates to the iron man and the military-industry.…

As a child, I would constantly hear the adults complaining about my teenage cousin; ’Moody’, ‘hormonal’, ‘immature’, these are some of the words they used to describe her. To their credit, she was very much in her own world, with music always blasting through her headphones and her hair badly bleached to make a statement. And it is true, teenagers will always have a bad reputation, just take a look at how we are represented in pop culture: ‘The Breakfast Club’, ‘Rebel Without A Cause’ and ‘Ghost World’ are examples of how we are often portrayed as rebellious, lazy and disrespectful. A lot of the time, I feel like teenagers are just misunderstood.…

A Cultural War “American culture is very dominant” (Source G). All around the world, different countries are constantly absorbing and feeding off the easily accessible American culture. The problem is that many of these countries are afraid American culture will diminish their own culture and traditions. This is understandable, mainly because infiltrating their culture is not the only negative impact American culture has on other countries. Apart from invading other cultures, America’s hypnotic trends and the glamours of Hollywood have also portrayed exceedingly negative stereotypes, which have the potential to influence extremism, and give the entire country a bad reputation and a negative self-image towards other nations.…
