To parent means more than to guide a child through her adolescent years. It also means to nurture and protect, to love and encourage. The relationship a father and daughter share plays a crucial role in the early stages of her development. For adoptees and foster children, especially ones too young to have known their own biological parents or to have formed a strong bond to some sort of parental figure, their development risks becoming malformed if the right state of mind surrounding their parents is not instilled. Never knowing one’s own origins creates a strong imagination, whether it be imagining royal relatives with grandiose castles and obedient servers to comply with every wish and whim. Some just hope their adoptive family treats them no worse than their current situation. Either one would suffice, their goal is to simply get out of the poorly managed and underfunded government system and fall into loving arms. It is dangerous to imagine, one risks flushing their responsibilities down the toilet and consequently losing dignity and reputation, but for care-free children, who have no risks or responsibilities with which to waste time, an imagination remains their only means of discovering their past and shaping their …show more content…
Intense blue eyes with crows feet (that only developed because of the frequency of his smile) gaze intently at everything; a lackluster apple receives as much interest as the most enrapturing novel. A looming 6 '3" and strong, broad shoulders create an intimidating but all encompassing presence that feels safe and sheltered. While his presence is a bit brooding, his face wields no signs of hostility, but rather a warm, welcoming countenance make up for his pseudo-menacing features. His mouth resembles a maw with a wide and toothy smile that at first glance seems carnivorous, but after a double take transforms into its true form: a jovial beam that could make even a vagabond clown return a weak smile. He has a birth mark, right under his chin, in the form of a fore-shortened Florida with a big of Georgia added onto it, if looked at from the right angle. His skin appears fair and taut, only his eyes betray him and tell of his true age, but at a mere 39 years old, he looks great. He has strong, lean muscles from charity work that include lots of manual labor, yet never enjoyed going to the gym to work out. His fingertips would be calloused and well used, with nimble fingers that float across a guitar’s fret board to make an effortlessly beautiful melody to maybe even play a soft lullaby or two at night to ease his daughter into a peaceful dream about castles
