a. Margaret and her daughter Jane, leaves husband and father Frank. They move to North Beach, San Francisco.
b. Margaret meets Walter Keane a fellow artist. They get married.
c. Walter brings his and Margaret’s artwork to a gallery and gets shut down.
d. Walter and Margaret then rent the walls of a nightclub.
e. A woman mistakes Margaret work for Walters.
f. Walter gets into an altercation with club owner that makes more people start coming to see/ buy the paintings. One of them being Dick Nolan and Walter starts taking credit for Margaret’s work.
g. Walter then starts selling information to Nolan on higher ups in society.
h. Walter opens a gallery with Margaret’s painting.
i. After being questioned on why he paints little girls, Margaret helps Walter come up with a cover story.

Walter goes on TV to tell why he started the painting. This gets him more publicity and he starts selling posters.
k. Margaret starts a different style of painting that she takes credit for.
l. Margaret discovers Walter’s original paintings have a different signature on them and realizes he has a fraud.
m. Walter convinces Margaret to do the World’s Fair.
n. Jane finds out the truth that Margaret was the one behind the paintings, not Walter.
o. Walter loses it at an event once he sees that a NY Times critic gives a bad review on the painting that was submitted for the World’s Fair.
p. Walter gets drunk and starts throwing lit matches at Jane and Margaret.
q. Jane and Margaret leave Walter and go to Hawaii.
r. Margaret becomes a Jehovah Witness.
s. Margaret files for separation and sends Walter more paintings but with her signature on
