Once Amir gets the phone call from Rahim Khan, he decides to go to Afghanistan to try and right his wrongs. One day while Amir and Soraya are watching television, Amir gets a call from Rahim Khan. Rahim Khan tells Amir that he is very sick, and that he would like to see Amir, and also tell Amir about Hassan before he passes. During the phone call, Rahim Khan tells Amir that the trip to Afghanistan will provide “a way to be good again” (192). Amir realizes that Rahim Khan knows he betrayed Hassan, and so he decides to take the chance, and gets on a plane to Afghanistan. Once there, Amir speaks to Rahim Khan.
