At an early age Wilson “developed a burning hatred of war, and a passionate attachment to the confederate- embraced principle of self-determination for minority peoples” (Bailey). Wilson’s plan for peace resulted in the Fourteen Points, which defined his vision for a more secured world. Wilson’s Fourteen Points included goals such as “assent of secret treaties, freedom of seas, remoral of economic barriers, self determination for oppressed minorities” (Bailey). President Wilson went forward to propose his Fourteen Points in Paris to the allies. When proposing his Fourteen Points the European leaders had other plans than peace (Treaty of Versailles). The European leaders fully ignored President Wilson’s Fourteen points. In regarding majority of plans, the “Big Four” made the decisions. The Big Four consisted of President Wilson, David Lloyd George of Great Britain, George Clemenceau of France, and Vittorio Orlando of Italy. Wilson felt that Germany should have been treated more fair. United States did not suffer high casualties, resulting in no need for a higher revenge such as the British and the French. In June 1919 the Treaty of Versailles appeared to the Senate to obtain vote for ratification. Most democrats favored the Treaty while republicans resulted in a division of thoughts. In voting of the Treaty of Versailles there resulted a shortage of votes of the majority needed to ratify the treaty. The rejection of the Treaty of Versailles appeared as the first moment the Senate chose to ever turn down a peace treaty. In replace of the Treaty of Versailles the United States of America came up with a verdict to end war with Germany. The United States would never connect or engage itself with the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty of Versailles to the United States of America appeared to result as dead, and it would stay that way. The League of Nations failed in its goal to achieve peace, which provoked a war instead of solving it.
The Treaty of Versailles consisted of unfair treatment to the German. Its result did not appear to be successful in regards to another world war to occur. If the United States of America got caught in agreement to the Treaty of Versailles it would lose its power in a say of war.
