The novel, The Runaway King by Jennifer A. Nielsen follows a young king on his journey to save his country. The text depicts a riveting story as the young king, named Jaron, travels to a neighboring country that is threatening his citizens safety to destroy the people that are capable of harming the peace. He goes against all odds and is willing to do anything to continue the legacy of his nation, the wonderful Carthya. This novel was very well done and the character portrayal is quite interesting. Each character is explain and each has a very important purpose throughout the story. Nielsen expertly included characters in meaningful parts of the book. There is always a reason for every word, whether it be for a vivid description of a situation
