The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson declaring/stating the freedom of the thirteen American colonies from Great Britain. The main purpose of the Declaration of Independence was to explain to foreign countries why the colonies had chosen to separate themselves from Great Britain.

Abolition is the action or the act of abolishing a system, practice, or institution. Thomas Jefferson’s passage about slavery was replaced with a passage about King George’s incitement of “domestic insurrections among us.” Many people believed that slavery should have still been around so that’s another reason why it wasn’t included in the Declaration of Independence. The people thought that slavery was okay and that it should happen.
