Field Expert Interview Report

For this field expert interview, I interviewed one of the first grade teachers, Mrs. Heckman, at the school where I work. I decided to conduct my interview on Mrs. Heckman for this particular assignment because last year I worked in her classroom during an undergrad course and I really liked her classroom management style. I believe that she is fulfills the expert aspect for this paper because like with most classes, she has a very diverse classroom when it comes to behaviors, yet it is clearly apparent that her class is more managed when comparing other classrooms. Mrs. Heckman has 38 years of teaching experience where she has taught third grade for eight years; kindergarten for ten years; and first grade for twenty years. The following …show more content…
3- Name is moved to yellow. When the students’ name is moved to yellow, the student has to walk five laps at recess. Once the student is done walking their laps, we then discuss what behavior was wrong and what they are going to do the next time to correct their behavior.
4- Name is moved to orange. When the students’ name is moved to orange, the student has to walk 10 laps at recess. Once the student is done walking their laps, we then discuss what behavior was wrong and what they are going to do the next time to correct their behavior.
5- Name is moved to red. When the students’ name is moved to red, this is a call home to their parent as well as having to walk 20 laps at recess. Once the student is done walking their laps, we then discuss what behavior was wrong and what they are going to do the next time to correct their behavior.
4. What types of behaviors do you discourage in your classroom?
1- Disrespect. This includes so many areas, such as bullying; talking during quiet time; interrupting; talking when someone else is talking; hitting; etc.
2- Dishonesty.
